As much as this whole pandemic situation sucks, the stimulus money has been a godsend for me. I now have more money in my pocket and my bank account than I’ve had since I did that video gig for the Army National Guard nearly two years ago. I have put some of the money to good use.
So far, I’ve gotten myself a badly needed new pair of shoes, renewed my domain name, signed up for web hosting and pre-paid for a whole year. Bought a new GoPro camera with several accessories and mounts. And soon, I’m gonna get the suspension and exhaust leak fixed on my car, something I’ve been meaning to do but haven’t had the cash.
I consider myself lucky in that I was already in the California EDD (unemployment insurance) system before the pandemic and lockdowns hit. I got my stimulus money and IRS money almost immediately. I was barely working part time for the past six months because my supervisor would rather give all the hours to the cute young girls that work for him. Whatever. I don’t want to go back to that job. As much as I liked feeding our soldiers and getting the free food, that job sucked. It was a dead-end job. So F it. Onward and Upward!
